Congratulations to the inaugural class of the OPUS Competition Hall of Fame.
The OPUS Competition Hall of Fame was created to honor students whose achievements reflect exceptional excellence, consistency, and artistic growth within the OPUS Music Competition. It recognizes those who have distinguished themselves through sustained success at the state and national levels and whose accomplishments have helped shape the legacy of OPUS. The Hall of Fame also serves to inspire future generations of young artists to pursue excellence with dedication and purpose.
Joshua Lee (violin) has earned a special place in OPUS through years of distinguished achievement as a string player. He was a 1st Prize winner in Junior Strings at the National Competition in both 2022 and 2023, and continued to receive national recognition in later years, including the senior division. At the state level, he built an outstanding history of success with four consecutive years of first-place finishes in Arizona strings from 2022 through 2025, reflecting exceptional consistency and musical growth.
Justin Kang (cello/piano) has distinguished himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished students in OPUS history, earning national honors in both piano and strings. His achievements include 2nd Prize in Junior Piano in 2023, Merit Prize in Senior Piano in 2025, 3rd Prize in Senior Piano in 2026, and 1st Prize in Senior Strings in both 2025 and 2026. At the state level, he earned repeated top honors across multiple years in both piano and strings, underscoring the breadth of his artistry and consistency.
Daniel Kang (piano) has emerged as one of the most accomplished pianists in OPUS through a remarkable series of national honors. His achievements include 1st Prize in Senior Piano in 2023, 3rd Prize in 2024, and 2nd Prize in 2025, establishing him as one of the competition’s most successful national pianists. His success was equally strong at the state level, where he progressed from 2nd Prize in Arizona Piano in 2022 to 1st Prize in 2023 and 2024, demonstrating sustained excellence over time.
